Creative director, newsletter writer and tastemaker Angela Fink brings a level of detail and intention to every aspect of her life, which is what makes her so good at her job. Working to curate and cultivate elegance throughout her world has led her to consider sustainability as a central tenet to how she operates. In fact, she sees the sustainability movement in fashion as reflective of the regenerative movement in agriculture, and as such we were thrilled to sit down with her and get her insights into living a more planet-friendly lifestyle.

How do you see the connection between sustainable fashion and sustainable food? Do your values in one area influence your choices in the other?

Sustainable fashion and sustainable food share a core principle: mindful consumption. Both involve understanding the journey of a product—whether it’s clothing or food—and its impact on the environment, people, and communities. My values in one area naturally extend to the other. Prioritizing quality over quantity, supporting ethical production, and reducing waste guide my decisions across both realms.

As someone who promotes thoughtful consumption in fashion, how do you approach food choices? Are there parallels in reducing waste or shopping more ethically in both realms?

Absolutely. Thoughtful consumption in fashion and food comes down to being intentional. In food, I focus on buying seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients and reducing waste by planning meals or repurposing leftovers. Similarly, in fashion, I prioritize timeless pieces and minimizing impulse buys.  

The farm-to-table movement has influenced how we think about food sourcing. Do you see a similar shift happening in fashion with local and artisan production?

Yes, there's a growing appreciation for slow fashion that mirrors the farm-to-table movement. More people are valuing locally-made, artisan garments that honor craftsmanship and reduce the carbon footprint of global supply chains. This shift supports small businesses and fosters a deeper connection between makers and consumers. At the end of the day knowing where a piece came from feels special. 

How do you incorporate messages about sustainability—whether in fashion or food—into your social media or brand partnerships?

I highlight the stories behind brands and products, emphasizing transparency and ethical practices. Whether it’s showcasing a sustainably sourced outfit or a meal made from farmers' market finds, I aim to inspire thoughtful choices. Partnering with brands that align with these values allows me to amplify the message authentically and meaningfully.

How do you incorporate sustainable practices into your everyday routines, from choosing clothing to selecting ingredients for meals?

In fashion, I embrace a curated closet, investing in versatile, strong pieces. For meals, I shop locally, avoid single-use plastics, and meal-prep to reduce food waste. These habits not only align with my values but also create a sense of simplicity and mindfulness in my day-to-day life.

What advice would you give to your followers who want to live more sustainably, both in the clothes they wear and the food they consume?

Start small and stay consistent. In fashion, focus on buying fewer, better-quality pieces that reflect your style. For food, support local farmers, plan meals, and opt for seasonal produce. Sustainability isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress and making mindful choices that align with your values.
