V~Into May 2026: Call Me Mother Edit

This month, we're thinking about mothers. The ones who raised us, the ones who feed us, the ones who tend things quietly so others can grow. There's a reason we call it mother earth — care at that scale doesn't ask for recognition, it’s a quite power that is the most radical form of optimism.  Planting seeds for a future it might never even see.

In that spirit, here's what we're loving this may. Things that nourish, things that slow us down, things worth passing on.

visit:Reference Point at 180 Strand is a library, bookshop, and bar tucked inside one of London's great creative hubs — dedicated to rare and hard-to-find visual literature. You DM them for a browse, there's usually something on in the evening, and it costs nothing to go. London's version of the delightfully analogue afternoon.

read:The Power of Real Optimism by Deepika Chopra. Not wishful thinking — the kind of optimism that's practiced, specific, and actually changes how you move through the world. Reading it slowly and watch your perspective, and outlook, shift.

cook:Riviera by Melanie Masarin. The closest you can get to a European summer, at home. Inspired by her home country and her grandmother’s thoughtful cooking, Melanie’s family recipes are flavorful, comforting, and always inherently celebratory. Next time you have guests over, make the poisson en papillote — it’s simpler than it looks but it’s sure to wow the crowd.

eat:Dressed crab and snap peas is beckoning summer at Wilde's in Los Feliz.Natasha Price and Tatiana Ettensberger have been friends since they were two years old — now they're running one of LA's most coveted rooms: British personality, California grown, deeply inspiring.

wear:Ahlem sunglasses. Ahlem Manai-Platt grew up in Paris, spent a decade at Acne and Prada Group, then followed her instincts to LA and built an eyewear brand from scratch — each pair handcrafted in France by nine artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations. The story is one thing, but the frames speak for themselves.

listen:I Saw the Mountains by Noah Cyrus. Stops us in our tracks each time it spins. Nature as the ultimate muse has us playing it on repeat.

smell:Ffern Spring ‘26. A small-batch, natural fragrance released each season, each made to order. This one was created in partnership with Knepp, a rewilding project in Sussex, and opens with citrus and green before settling into white blossom and meadow. The kind of scent that actually smells like outside. The waiting list is open if you want in.

visit:Fowlescombe Farm in Devon. A regenerative cattle farm that opened its doors as a retreat — 450 acres on the edge of Dartmoor, full-board, and the kind of food that writes itself from what the land is producing that week. A working farm that guests actually participate in. The epitome of our ethos: do well, eat better, gather often.

live:the Orca Livingoutdoor shower andfirepit. Copper and brass, made in California, designed to patina with use — the kind of objects that only get better over time.Founder Molly Sedlacek built Orca around the belief that the outdoors and indoors shouldn't be separate. Summer will be here before we know it.
