It’s hard to believe it’s almost the tail-end of summer—with murmurs of back-to-school and fall planning sprinkling into the air.
We’re still a bit out from itofficially being over, so we’re savoring these last few weeks and the bounty of it all. The seasonal vegetables, the long warm nights, the lazy beach days all serve as a reminder of our appreciation and gratitude for nature this time of year.
Food: Blueberries
The farmers' market is in peak season right now—with the vibrancy of options in fruits and veggies reaching its seasonal fever pitch. And of course, this includes blueberries. The antioxidant-rich fruit is currently at its best, so if you buy them right now—whether you eat them on their own or bake them into a sweet treat—the slightly tarty and earthy flavor is sure to be the summer delicacy you've been craving.
You can also find the beautiful (and delicious) pink lemonade blueberry varieties right now, as well. While sweeter than a typical blueberry, it makes a vibrant garnish or topping to that summer cocktail or seasonal dish. And if you're feeling fancy, try your hand at our Fig Leaf and Blueberry Summer Avocado Oil Cake.
